THE NEXT RIGHT THING – Episode 65
We are back to Emily Freeman.
At the end of this podcast episode, Emily quotes a prayer written by Father Thomas Keating:
“Welcome, Holy Spirit.
I welcome everything that comes to me today because I know it’s for my good.
I welcome all thoughts, feelings, emotions, persons, situations, and conditions.
I let go of my agenda for affection and approval by receiving my belovedness. Welcome, Holy Spirit.
I let go of my agenda for safety and security by resting in your abundance. Welcome, Holy Spirit.
I let go of my agenda for power and control by surrendering to your grip on my life. Welcome, Holy Spirit.
I let go of my desire to change anyone or anything or even myself.
I open to your presence and action within me today. Amen.”
Today I have been thinking about my relationship with myself. I’m learning how to improve that relationship – how to work on self-trust. I was surprised that that was something I had to work on at all.
HOW WOULD MY LIFE BE DIFFERENT IF I COULD TRUST MYSELF?
Keeping my mouth closed.
Opening my mouth.
Sticking to my limits.
Stretching my limits.
Eating what I planned on eating.
Spending my time as planned.
Serving my future self in my daily decisions.
Feeling what I feel when I feel it.
Welcoming everything that comes to me, every day, because I know it’s for my good.
Trusting myself to welcome all thoughts, feelings, emotions, persons, situations, and conditions.
Living in trust, not in fear.
Living in love and acceptance, not disapproval and disappointment.
