This is just a tool. It’s a piece of paper on a fridge. 10 things you want to do, each day – foundational practices.

Here are some ideas from the host and hostess:

  • Walk every day
  • Exercise every day
  • Gratitude journal
  • 9 cups of water
  • No email after 8pm/don’t turn on phone until 9am
  • No technology at the dinner table
  • Daily meditation
  • Bed by 10pm
  • No sugar
  • Floss/scrape tongue

“If you are doing this with a partner, you are going to naturally take on some of their checklist as well.”

And that is why I am using this for MONDAY MARRIAGE MATTERS. Bry and I are already using checklists, on our phones. Because they’re on our phones, we aren’t seeing each other’s lists daily – we are not allowing ourselves to be influenced in our self-care practices by the person who cares most about our selves in the whole world.

Bryant’s daily to-do’s:

  • Reflect on 2020 goals
  • Floss
  • Spend 30 minutes with Rachel, every day
  • Seven pull-ups
  • Read scriptures
  • Drink 64 ounces of water
  • Spend 30 minutes doing something that I enjoy

Bryant sets goals differently than me. He sets a lot! I only reported 7 of his 28 daily to-do’s. He sets goal areas, and smaller goals within those areas, to break it down a bit. Just talking about them tonight gave me an idea or two for goals I would like to work on.

Rachel’s daily to-do’s:

  • Teeth/tongue/face/breathe
  • Gym workout
  • Hug Bryant for 3 minutes
  • 9 cups water
  • Neck stretches

There are some things that I don’t like to put on my to-do list because I have always done them, and I expect that I always will. At the same time, there are some things I would like to add to my daily to-do list, but I need to build my trust in myself before adding them. My to-do list is meant to be things I absolutely can do every day, and WILL do every day. The purpose of creating a to-do list this way is to build self-trust. And as I trust myself more and more to do what I tell myself that I will do, I can increase the difficulty of items to check off daily.

I want to talk to Bry about our daily goals as we go to bed together at nights. Again, allow ourselves to be influenced by each other.

“Walk with the dreamers, the believers, the courageous, the cheerful, the planners, the doers, the successful people with their heads in the clouds and their feet on the ground. Let their spirit ignite a fire within you to leave this world better than when you found it…” Wilferd Peterson
